Energy & Sustainability Statements are now commonly required as part of the Planning process and for projects assessed against other schemes such as BREEAM or LEED.
Many Local Authorities stipulate an Energy or CO₂ reduction target, which must be calculated in accordance with Building Regulations Methodology, SAP and SBEM. They also require detailed explanations of how other sustainable construction issues such as resource efficiency, waste management and site impacts will be addressed.
Simply determining the relevant legislation and targets can be a task in itself and establishing the most effective and practical approach to achieving these targets, early in the project, is key.
